Joris is an experienced teacher and thus an intensely motivated coach for singers, choirs and fellow conductors. His way of working with individual singers and conductors is very direct, giving concrete feedback on a technical, artistic, textual, vocal, physical and psychological level. Joris attaches great importance to trust and safety in the collaboration. From there there is always room for an open conversation. Joris loves coaching groups and ensembles. The interaction between conductor and ensemble member on the one hand and the ensemble members themselves on the other is a source of inspiration and challenge. Joris senses the group dynamic swiftly and smoothly and helps the group improve their music-making based on their strengths. The combination of technical knowhow, repertoire knowledge, vocal and physical awareness and group dynamics is a crucial breeding ground for helping talent and quality to surface.
